The plastic is placed on both sides of the crack to prevent it from moving during normal usage.
Lastly, a small amount of clear epoxy can be used to repair star cracks in your windshield. This method is most often seen in do-it-yourself glass repair kits, but it can be quite effective. It’s essential that you follow the directions on the package to ensure proper application. When using this method, it’s a good idea to have a razor blade on hand for shaving away excess epoxy and to have a cloth soaked in acetone ready to wipe off any remaining epoxy that is raised above the crack surface.
